Captured at the very peak of autumn, this piece celebrates the timeless, quiet rhythm of the rural countryside. A rustic split-rail fence and sweeping canopy of mature maples frame a country lane blanketed in crimson and gold, drawing the viewer effortlessly into a quintessential fall afternoon.
What sets this photograph apart lies in the subtle extension of time. Shot at f/10 using a 10-stop neutral density filter, the scene was captured over a remarkable 267-second long exposure. While the heavy cedar rails and grounded trunks remain tack-sharp and still, nearly four and a half minutes of gentle autumn breeze blur the canopy into soft, painterly brushstrokes—infusing a frozen moment with hidden, continuous motion.
